I was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and I lived there for two years. I then lived in Medellin, Colombia, until I was five years old. At that time, my family moved back to the United States, and I lived in North Carolina, Virginia, Michigan, and Illinois. I graduated from high school in Illinois.
I earned a bachelor's degree from Drake University, in Des Moines, Iowa, and then I became interested in working with bilingual children. So I moved to San Antonio, Texas, and I earned a master's degree in Bicultural-Bilingual Studies from The University of Texas at San Antonio. I was a professor in the Department of Early Childhood Studies at San Antonio College for twenty-six and a half years. I retired and moved to Arkansas, where I was the early childhood coordinator at a small college.
I am now pretty much fully retired, and I live with my husband and my 11-year old son on 16 beautiful acres in rural Arkansas.
I met Ellen in the mid-80s, when she came to teach at SAC. It turns out we lived within a few miles of each other in Virginia when we were little girls! As we got to know each other, we began presenting workshops together, and we realized that...because of our different strengths and different personalities...we were more effective when we presented together!
I am looking forward to learning more about each of you!
