About Me:
My name is Denise Sullivan, I am 37 years old. I was born in Chicago and lived there until I was 3 years old. Then we moved to Quito Ecuador where my brothers and I attended and International School (my father was an ESL teacher there- didn`t have to pay for anything!) and graduated at that school. The year I graduated we went back to Chicago where I started studying musical theater but my father then decided we should go to Las Vegas. I attended UNLV where I registered in some music classes plus all the basic courses. At that time my father was teaching at a school where my husband Jean Paul attended his senior year as an exchange student from Ecuador. My father invited him over and well that is a long story!! I had my fisrt son Juan Andres in Las Vegas. When he was 3 months old, we went back to Ecuador where I tried to continue my studies at Universidad Catòlica for like 2 years and worked at a nursery school. Then I applied to work as an assistant at an international school called Colegio Menor where I worked for 4 years as prekinder and kinder assistant. At the same time I decided to study a 2 year career called "Parvularia" (to be able to work at nurseries), and I got pregnant with my second child, Lia. By this time my husband an I got married, and when my daughter was 7 months old I got pregnant with my third child, Emilio, so you can imagine what happened with my studying!! I couldn`t finish!! and then when Emilio was like one and a half we were sent to live in Puerto Rico for a year. After that year we were sent to Mexico for another year where I had my fourth child Jean Paulcito.... and then we were sent to live here in Bogotà Colombia. We have been living here for 5 years. This is my third year at Colegio Gran Bretaña where the first two years I worked as a Reception Teacher (4-5 year old kids) and this is my first year working in Nursery(3-4 year olds) which I love!!! We have an English Curriculum and although it is quite different from the American one I am learning a lot and I love working at the school. I think I`ve written too much, but well as a goal I hope that someday I can get my diploma! I love being with my family, I like to sing (I used to sing in bars in Ecuador-long time ago...) and I like to read especially the books that my oldest child reads at school (great way to make conversation with a teenager!).
Professional Responsibilities: Nursery Teacher.
Mano a Mano project I'm Working On (give a brief description):
Giselly Pasaquira and I will be working on "Visible Thinking", concentrating on some Thinking Routines like: I see, I think, I wonder, plus many more and using them with the children at school.
