Dear Everyone,

My name is Eunice Martorell. I am 32 years old and was born in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. I have lived in many cities here in Honduras ( La Ceiba, San Pedro Sula, Tegucigalpa and Tocoa) and we moved for a year when I was very young to Costa Rica. This was because of my father's job. He worked as an engineer in the Tela Railroad Company in African palm tree plantations. My childhood because of this, was filled with many good experiences closely knitted to nature. I got to do so many things that I am amazed of how I survived my childhood without even breaking a bone. I climbed to the very top of trees, caught all sorts of bugs, got attacked by a flock of mean geese, had a boa go in through the kitchen window and so many other stories that made my childhood colorful.

I love a good book, good food and good conversation. I love spending time with my son. I enjoy cooking although the outcome of it is not always the desired one. I love teaching and have been teaching for 11 years.

Eventhough I have been teaching for 11 years I find myself always seeking new things to learn to help me be a better teacher. I can't say that " I know everything ". I can't say my years of experience have taught me enough. I hope that this course can help me find new ways to teach and connect with my children.

My project proposal has do do with something that has really caught my eye, Positive Classroom Managament and Active Listening. I want to try something new discipline wise in my class, avoiding the "traditional discipline" that many of our schools have been using (you know, the color coded charts, faces ,or even the demerits systems), which we know don-t always work. I hope that in the end both teachers and students can benefit from this.
